A Shell in Time
This is the memoir of two artists who first met as schoolgirls in Delft, Lida Lopes Cardozo Kindersley & Els Bottema. Their paths converged and diverged as they grew up and followed their individual vocations, as ceramicist and letter cutter. What brings them back in touch is the coincidence of cancer: that both are diagnosed in the same year, but are then able to support each other through the trials of chemo treatment. They choose to convalesce on the bleak coast of Suffolk, and there create a natural artwork which has moved and motivated visitors from across the world: the shell line of Shingle Street.
