Sustainability
We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our products, packaging and customer experience. Here are some of the actions we’re already taking:
Our products
We use plastic-free packing (or in many cases, no packaging) for our own-label products, and choose suppliers who do the same. Our suppliers are carefully selected to ensure sustainable practices are at the heart of their business. We work with many small and local makers, minimising the impact from manufacture and shipping.
Our newest reusable tote bags are made from either rPET, an innovative fabric made from plastic waste with a cotton-like feel, or organic cotton. Our tea towels and cushion covers are also made for us in the UK from organic cotton.
Shopping online
We re-use as much packaging as possible from our supplier deliveries to pack your online orders, including boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Where new packaging is needed, we opt for plastic-free and products made from recycled materials where possible. We encourage the further re-use of packaging by our customers, but most of our packaging can also easily be recycled in your household recycling bin.
Our standard UK and overseas deliveries are made by Royal Mail, named as the UK’s greenest delivery option in the 2023 Citizen Advice Parcels League Table. We also offer a free click & collect option for customers local to Cambridge, where customers can make use of the convenient cycle racks outside!
Shopping in person
We only issue paper receipts on request, and also have the option to provide a receipt by email. We encourage customers to use their own reusable bag if they can and provide recyclable paper bags for those who need one. Kettle’s Yard is easily accessible on foot, by bicycle or public transport.
