Sunil Gupta, I Call You My Love

I Call You My Love presents the intimate correspondence exchanged between Sunil Gupta and Steve Dodd during their transatlantic relationship from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Combining letters, photographs, poetry, sketches, and archival material, the book documents a deeply personal love story unfolding against the backdrop of Section 28, rising conservatism, and the AIDS crisis. Alongside Gupta's photographic series “Pretended” Family Relationships, these materials form a powerful archive of queer love, desire, and community in a time of political and social upheaval.
