Katharina Klug Limited Edition Bowl

£125.00

Design

To mark the opening of Lucie Rie: The Adventure of Pottery exhibition in March 2023, Kettle’s Yard commissioned local ceramic artist Katharina Klug to create three limited-edition bowls inspired by the work of Lucie Rie.

Since my days of learning the craft, Rie's work has been a strong influence on my work. Not only her level of craftsmanship or style but also her persistence in the way she forged her career has been an inspiration to me. These bowls are based on her work but interpreted in my own way of working - a celebration of what I think made her work unique” Katharina Klug

Every bowl is individually made on the potter's wheel thrown and turned, using porcelain clay and decorated using Katharina’s signature technique of line-ceramic pastels – a nod to the sgraffito lines of Lucie Rie’s work. The glazes used in the designs are based on Rie’s own recipes for metal oxide and white tin glazes.

Dimensions:

High Bowls - 87mm H, 120mm W

Low Bowls -50mm H, 150mm W

Each of the three bowl designs is a limited-edition of 50, numbered on the base. The bowls are presented boxed.

Please note, due to the handmade nature of this item the bowl that you receive may differ slightly in size, shape and/or glaze colour from those pictured.

Care instructions:

To preserve the quality of this handcrafted item, we recommend washing gently by hand. The bowl is food safe.
