Immaterial: Brancusi, Gabo, Moholy - Nagy
The dematerialisation of the solid world has been a pre-occupation of Western artists from Impressionism, through Cubism to the present day. This publication explores the aspiration of three modernists of Eastern European origins, Constantin Brancusi, Naum Gabo and László Moholy-Nagy to “dematerialise” the sculptural object.
Published to accompany the 2004 exhibition at Kettle's Yard, this publication contains essays from Sebastiano Barassi, Christina Lodder, Martin Hammer and Geraldine Johnson.
